Stoke Prior Village Hall
Set in the heart of the village, our Village Hall is a great venue for all sorts of events. Club meetings, supper talks, live music, quiz evenings and film shows take place regularly. We’d love to see you here to support the community and enjoy yourselves.
The Stoke Prior Village Hall is available to hire, and residents of the parish receive preferential rates.
The village hall now has superfast, reliable fibre broadband with excellent upload and download speeds courtesy of Gigaclear.
If you work from home and need reliable Wi-Fi for a particular meeting or even for regular use, please get in touch.
Events and Groups
Full details of upcoming events can found in The Pump for enquires, future events, etc.
Our regular hall users include Art Club, Jenny Pipes Dancers and the WI together with regular meetings of the History Society. The Parish Council meets for three main meetings and any planning meetings required in the period May to September inclusive.
Our very popular Flicks in the Sticks events have also returned. A regular monthly film has been screened, including, Belfast, The Duke and many more.
The hall is also used for village events such as a buffet lunch, in the hall, following the War Memorial Dedication. A popular annual event is the Harvest festival lunch in October.
Refurbishment update
The opportunity was taken last Spring, during lock down, to review all Health & Safety protocols for the hall. Areas for improvement and update were identified.
Works commenced to overhaul the Fire Alarm system, install sensor and emergency lighting to the building’s exterior.
All internal hall lighting now operates from new LED units, with an improved switching system.
Laminate floors have been installed in the front lobby and in both toilets. This allows for easy clean. Walls and ceilings in these areas were also painted.

Risbury Village Hall
Risbury Village Hall has been at the heart of the village for over a hundred years. A converted World War I army hut, it has been renovated on numerous occasions over the years and now boasts a large hall, separate bar (with a door to the seating area in the porch and a hatch into the main hall), modern kitchen and toilets. There is also a storage shed.

In 2017 we obtained a Lottery Grant to upgrade all the insulation in the walls and replace the cladding on the outside. The Hall has recently been re-decorated both inside and out and looks very smart. We have also installed dimmable lighting inside and movement sensor lights outside, which will also benefit users of the Defibrillator installed in the former telephone box which has been moved to just in front of the hall.
In 2022 we were very grateful to receive superfast reliable fibre broadband with excellent upload and download speeds, courtesy of Gigaclear Ltd. This is particularly useful for group parish council meetings, but can also enhance quizzes and other functions and be used by any resident in the parish who requires these facilities.
The Hall is managed by a Committee of volunteers from the parish. In 2023 the Chairman is Susie Taylor, Secretary Gene Clark and Treasurer Margaret Brown. Requests to hire the hall should be addressed to Kate Pugh (07815 699957 katyaspinwall@gmail.com). Anyone in the parish is welcome to join the committee. The Committee runs a 200 Club to fund the upkeep and activities of the hall. The 200 Club year runs from July to June, with six draws held at public events and an extra draw at Christmas.
The purpose of the Village Hall is to provide a place where residents of the village and the wider group parish can meet. To further this end, the committee arranges several events during the year. These include a Burns Night supper, several pub nights (since the village does not have a pub), a summer barbecue, an Oktoberfest and Christmas carol singing. The hall (which is also called Humber Parish Room) is also regularly used for social events by St Mary’s Church in Humber. In addition we have held local history evenings, Hallowe’en parties and many other events. There are also regular meetings of the group parish council, tutoring classes for children, WI meetings, several events during the Group Parish Community Week and the Risbury Gardening Show in September. The Hall is also quite widely used for private hire.
